Using The Firepits

Everyone enjoys sitting around a fire with the starlit sky in your backdrop. A experience that is made all the more amazing with the open space around. To ensure fire safety please follow the below guidelines

Enjoying The Fire Pits

The fire pit area is perfect for stargazing and enjoying a quiet evening. If you wish to roast marshmallows, we have provided skewers which you will find in the kitchen of the accommodation. While enjoying the fire pit, please be mindful of our neighbours and keep noise levels to a respectful volume, especially after sunset.

Safety Guidelines

  1. Check Local Regulations:
Occasionally there will be a total fire ban, or fire restrictions, in the area which we have to adhere to. We will let you know if your visit falls under a total fireban, though you can check local restrictions here; Queensland Fire Department Website.
  2. Supervision:
The fire pit should always be supervised by an adult when in use. Never leave the fire unattended.
  3. Fire pit location:
Our fire pits are set up in designated areas to ensure optimal enjoyment and safety. Please do not move them.

  4. Starting & managing the fire:
Do not use any flammable liquids, such as gasoline or lighter fluid, to ignite the fire. We have a small wood pile with kindling and there are fire starters in the bottom drawer near the dishwasher. Start with small kindling and gradually add larger pieces of wood.

Keep the fire at a manageable size to prevent sparks and embers from escaping.

  5. Extinguishing the Fire:

Allow the fire to burn down naturally if possible, then douse the remaining embers with water. There is a hose located next to the fire pit area on the outside of the deck. Stir the ashes to ensure all embers are completely extinguished and cool before leaving the area.
  6. Prohibited Items:
Do not burn trash, plastics, or treated wood, as these can release harmful chemicals and create unpleasant odours.

  7. Windy Conditions:
Avoid using the fire pit on particularly windy days to prevent sparks from blowing out of the contained area.
